About this policy
Our commitments
We collect what we need to schedule and complete your service. We don’t sell or share your personal information, and our website doesn’t use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
This Privacy Policy explains how Appliance Rescuers LLC (“Appliance Rescuers,” “we,” “us” or “our”) collects, uses and shares personal information when you visit our website, call or text us, chat with us, send a request, or receive our in-home services. It’s part of our Terms of Service.
What we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we collect:
- Contact details: your name, phone number, email address, service address and access notes, such as gate codes or parking instructions.
- Service details: the appliance type, brand, model and problem, your appointment preferences, the photos, videos, recordings and documents you send us, technician notes, estimates, invoices and warranty records.
- Payment records: amounts, payment method type, payment status, deposits and refunds. Card payments are handled by payment providers; our website doesn’t collect or store card numbers.
- Account details: if you create an account, your name, email, phone number, login details and the version of our Terms you accepted. Passwords are handled by our sign-in provider and aren’t stored in readable form.
- Communications: call recordings when a call is recorded, call and chat transcripts and summaries, texts, emails and other messages with our team, and your text-message choices.
- Device and usage information: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you request, dates and times, and security logs. We use this to run and protect our website, not for advertising.
Blog comments and media
If you use the blog while signed in, we keep your comments, replies, reactions and notification preferences to provide and moderate the discussion. Approved comments show a limited display name and any public role label configured for your account. The public discussion does not display your email address, phone number or a list of people who liked a comment. Moderators can review pending content, reports and moderation history. Authors and authorized staff can manage drafts and media according to their permissions. Draft articles and unpublished originals are private; publishing makes the approved article and its linked media available to readers.
Deleting or withdrawing public content stops new authorized access, but copies already downloaded by others cannot be recalled. Published media may remain in caches for up to five minutes after withdrawal. Revision and moderation records can be retained for operational, security and legal needs. We use service providers for hosting and storage. Third-party YouTube or Vimeo players load when you choose Play and are subject to those providers’ privacy practices. Blog notifications are delivered inside your account; enabling them does not subscribe you to email or text messages.
Where it comes from
Most information comes directly from you. We also receive it from people who contact us on your behalf, such as a family member, landlord or property manager; from our technicians during your visit; from online directories and lead services you use to reach us; and from our service providers.
Please don’t send us sensitive information, such as Social Security numbers, card numbers or health information, through our website, chat or texts.
How we use it
- Respond to your calls, chats and requests, and schedule, confirm and perform your service.
- Send your request to the right team member and technician.
- Prepare estimates and invoices, take payments, process refunds and handle warranty claims.
- Communicate with you by phone, email and, if you opt in, text message.
- Check quality, train our team, and improve our services and website.
- Protect our customers, team and systems, including preventing fraud, spam and abuse.
- Keep records, meet our legal, tax, licensing and insurance obligations, enforce our Terms and resolve disputes.
We don’t use your information for targeted advertising, and we don’t sell it.
Calls, chat and AI
Calls to our business number and chats on our website may be answered by our AI assistant, an automated system that uses AI service providers. Calls may be recorded. We transcribe and summarize calls and chats to understand your request, route it to the right person, check quality and keep service records, and our team can review them.
The assistant helps collect details and answer common questions. Our team makes the decisions that matter to you, such as confirming appointments, prices and diagnoses. We don’t use automated systems to make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Chats are saved so a conversation can continue if you leave and come back. A browser cookie keeps your current chat connected to your device.
Cookies and tracking
Our website uses only the cookies and browser storage it needs to work:
- sign-in cookies that keep you logged in to your account;
- a chat cookie that keeps your current conversation connected to your browser;
- temporary storage that remembers a request or upload in progress, so you can see its confirmation or save it to your account; and
- a setting that remembers your light or dark theme.
We don’t use analytics, advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we don’t let third parties track you across websites through our site. When you type an address in our booking form, the text is sent to our address-lookup provider to suggest matching addresses. You can block cookies in your browser settings, but sign-in and chat won’t work without them.
Because we don’t track you across websites or sell or share your information, our website works the same whether or not your browser sends a “Do Not Track” signal. We honor Global Privacy Control signals as a request to opt out of any sale or sharing.
Text messages
If you opt in to texts, we use your mobile number and consent record only to send the texts you agreed to and to keep records of your consent and opt-out choices. No mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Details are in our SMS Privacy Policy and SMS Terms.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes in this policy, then delete or de-identify it. How long depends on the type of information:
- Service, estimate, invoice and warranty records: as long as needed for your service and warranty, and for the periods required by tax, licensing and other laws.
- Call recordings, transcripts and chat history: until they’re no longer needed for your service, quality review, training, or resolving questions and disputes.
- Account information: while your account is open, and afterward as needed for records and legal obligations.
- Text-message consent and opt-out records: as long as needed to prove consent and honor your choices.
- Security logs: for a limited time, unless needed to investigate an incident.
Keeping it secure
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards, including encrypted connections, private storage and access limited to people who need it. No website or system is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your personal information, we’ll notify you as required by law.
Your privacy rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, or to stop contacting you by text or email.
California residents
Depending on the circumstances, and to the extent California privacy laws apply to us, California residents may have the right to:
- know what personal information we collect, use and disclose, and get a copy of it;
- correct inaccurate personal information;
- delete personal information, subject to exceptions;
- opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we don’t sell or share it);
- limit the use of sensitive personal information (we don’t use it for purposes that would require this); and
- not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
We don’t share personal information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes, as described in California’s “Shine the Light” law.
How to make a request
Email contact@appliancerescuers.com or call 415-417-1448. Before acting on a request, we’ll verify your identity by matching information we already have, such as your phone number, email or service address. An authorized agent can make a request for you with your signed permission, and we may ask you to confirm your identity directly. We respond within 45 days, or tell you if we need more time as the law allows. We may keep information when the law requires or allows it, for example for warranty, tax or legal records.
Children’s privacy
Our website and Services are meant for adults and aren’t directed to children under 16. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Policy updates
We may update this policy. We’ll post the new version here with a new “Last updated” date and, if the changes are significant, give notice on our website. Using our website or Services after an update means the updated policy applies.
